Be Part of The Movement!
Now that we're acquainted, I'd like to tell you how YOU can make a difference by just getting the word out!
Not everyone knows or understands the very serious issue of the homeless. First of all, anyone can be homeless. With the economy in a bit of a tug of war, you could easily lose your job and be out on the streets. It's very scary and most of us don't think about how good we really do have it or how we take that for granted.
We see homeless people out on the street as "dirty" and men who have long, unkempt beards, who "smell" or do "drugs". Those are all stereotypes. There is no profile for a homeless person. Though some may have these attributes, why should we allow ourselves to suddenly become "Holier Than Thou," and start judging them on their lifestyle? Remember, when you point the finger at someone make sure your hands are clean.
I want to be part of a movement that you all are invited to. It has no judgment and looks to help those in need. When you see someone on the street I bet you're scared. That they might rob you, or hurt you.. and why? Because you've seen it in movies? Please know that these people are in need. They may have a shelter to sleep at night they may get one hot meal a day. But what about their family? What about the holidays? What about feeling safe everyday and having a refreshing shower and that Chinese takeout you love? These people don't get to enjoy that.
Most homeless become sad and end up having some mental disabilities from the stress of day to day, survival on the streets, the weather they endure, the shunning from their own communities, and most of all loneliness...
Please be an activist in this fight with me. Because together we can make a change
